Where would the music industry be today if it weren't for the independent record store, an iconic status of music if there ever was one. The opening paragraph of this article is great, and perfectly identifies the experience of what it was like to have been in one (in the old days, so to speak).

It is indeed a sad note that such record stores are no longer around and closing, but it seems Rough Trade have found a formula that works, especially with their independent store. Check out this article on the subject, which also discusses the future of the independent record shop - something you agree on? http://www.themusicvoid.com/2010/05/exile-from-mainstreet-the-future-of-the-local-record-shop/
