Five Anticipated Summer Releases, Vol II: SSLYBY, More Arcade Fire, Oberhofer, School of Seven Bells, Admiral Radley
Last week, we kicked off the first installment of Anticipated Summer Releases, choosing the albums we are looking most forward to this summer, from Arcade Fire to Japandroids, and Wavves to Panda Bear.
In this second installment, we’re thrilled to have gotten news this week from Polyvinyl that Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin would be dropping a new record on August 17th; in advance of the official release, we got hold of a single that we think you’ll really enjoy.
“Sink/Let It Sway” – Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin – out August 17th
In addition, other anticipated releases forthcoming include Oberhofer, two new Arcade Fire songs, School of Seven Bells, Admiral Radley, Brock Enright and Kirsten Dierup, and Oberhofer, plus two more new Arcade Fire songs.

Last fall, we featured Brad Oberhofer, a Brooklyn one-man band who caught our attention after sending in a few songs, and who became a big hit on IRC. So it’s no surprise that he has recruited a band, Oberhofer, and hired a publicist. In August, the band will release a 7″. Compare to Oberhofer’s lo-fi demos we featured last November.
“oOOOoOOOo” – Oberhofer from 7 release - out August 10th
You’ve probably already heard them, but here are two more new Arcade Fire songs from their upcoming LP, The Suburbs.
“We Used to Wait” – Arcade Fire from The Suburbs – out August 3rd
“Ready to Start” – Arcade Fire from The Suburbs – out August 3rd

In 2008, New York dream pop band School of Seven Bells broke through with their debut LP, Alpinisms, after just about a year together. The band is comprised of Benjamin Curtis of Secret Machines, and identical twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza. SVIIB have toured with bands like Bat For Lashes, Killing Joke, Blonde Redhead and M83.
“Windstorm” - School of Seven Bells from Disconnect from Desire – out July 13th
Admiral Radley is a supergroup in terms of indie music, we guess is fair, considering they are a new band featuring former members of Grandaddy, Aaron Burtch and Jason Lytle, and Earlimart band members Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray. We dig this track from their upcoming debut LP. Get more info at Admiral Radley.
“I Heart California” – Admiral Radley from I Heart California – out July 13th
Artist Brock Enright and his painter girlfriend Kirsten Dierup shocked the art world with their controversial artwork and exhibition of their personal life in the film Good Times Will Never Be The Same, applauded by critics and movie goers from coast to coast. Now, the couple are back with a new LP, Torben, named after their son.
“Maybe” – Brock Enright and Kirsten Deirup from Torben – out June 29th
You can view the first mixtape of Anticipated Summer Releases, and be sure to check back next Tuesday for Best New Releases of the Week. And while we’re on the topic of summer, you can also check out the Summer 2010 Mixtape Volume One. One mixtape that was a huge hit with regulars and visitors, reaching over 40,000 visits in just a couple of weeks! The mix includes over 40 songs from mostly new indie artists.

Great collection of songs. Stretchy loves it!
