Great stuff. I can see how followers of a series called “Feetz to Da Beatz” might feel that this mix isn’t especially danceable, but for folks like me who listen to electronic/dance music while writing, this is just the thing.
Thanks for your comment. You guys are so right and we changed the name of the mix
where da beatz yo? who dances to this?
I have to say Kim more or less nailed it. I enjoy the songs on this playlist, but they’re definitely too light of beats to be classified as dance/electronica/house due to their chill nature with relatively slow tempos and severe lack of some dirty bass. As much as my ears enjoyed the sound waves thrown at them by these tracks, I think Feetz to Da Beatz should be more epic and dirtier-sounding with more bass!
Au Revoir Simone et Psy’Aviah ? Okay, that got my attention. :D
Oh, and it is “Psy’Aviah,” not “Psyaviah.” Just wanted to let you all know. Thank you for including my favorite Belgians and three of my favorite New Yorkers, though. Will check out the rest when I can. :)
I’d go for Zoot Woman, Psy’Aviah, Germanu Germany
To be honest, as much as I liked every song on this list, the material is quite lighthearted compared to the majority of tracks I would put into the genre category dance/electronice/house. If I was DJing at any event in the world none of these tracks would be used for anything other than a ‘last song wind-down’. I would personally class most of these songs as downbeat electro, possibly the sort of tracks that would make it onto an electronica chillout album (with the exception of a few of the last tracks, primarily due to the use of faster, more dominant beats). That is not to say that any of these tracks are not well-performed or well-produced (in fact I downloaded every one! – albeit for the morning after a night of real dance/electronica/house!). “Likely Story” was, in particular, the dogs bollocks.
For future reference: Harder, dirtier beats required please!!!!
Much Love
Hey guys I’m from the blog patricianeverleavesthehouse.blogspot.com and it’s great to see user generated conversation about the music we love. Of this mixtape we’ve posted before the Frames remix of Aeons and we could not speak more highly of Aeroplane who as a duo (they split recently) one of the most influential indie dance/nu disco/house artists of the decade.
Also really liked the Secondo remix of Kinema – hadn’t heard it before. Nice selection
