Best New Releases, Week of Jan. 29th – Local Natives, Golden Bloom, Tegan and Sara, Lost Animal, Mice Parade
As with last week, this week’s lot of new albums offers an impressive collection of fresh releases to keep any music lover busy for the next few days. After more than three years, the popular indie band Local Natives finally dropped the follow-up to their 2009 widely-acclaimed debut record. The new album’s lead track, “Breakers,” is everything fans would expect from the band – washed in layers of lo-fi guitar rhythms, oh-ah choruses, synths and percussions. Another indie artist that has made waves on our pages in the past year or so is Golden Bloom, whose new album No Day Like Today, is definitely worth a spin, and one of the standout tracks, “Flying Mountain,” is one of the best singles of the week.
