Special Report: Summer Rock Festivals Still Got Sizzle

Summer may soon be coming to an end, but rock and roll fans worldwide are not quite ready to let go.

From the U.S. to Europe, from Australia to Japan, there are a number of big-time rock music festivals being held through the end of September, and beyond.

While rock festivals are sporadically speckled throughout the calendar year, there's no question that the vast majority of the most popular rock festivals are held from May to September.

Carling-Reading Weekend Festival
Carling, England - August 24 - 26

One of the most anticipated rock festivals of the year is underway in Carling, UK. Thus far, festival goers with two full days of live music including many of the most popular indie and alternative rock and pop artists from today and yesterday. The musical line up for the Carling-Reading Festival is jam packed with more than 100 of the best independent and alternative artists performing on five stages: Klaxons, Kings of Leon, Razorlight, The Smashing Pumpkins (or Billy Corgan and Friends), Hellogoodbye, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jimmy Eat World, Ash, The Sounds, Sparta, We Are Scientists, The Shins, Panic at the Disco, Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr., Fall Out Boy, NiN, The Used, Billy Talent, Cold War Kids, CSS, LCD Soundsystem, The Sunshine Underground, Bloc Party, New Found Glory, Peter, Bjorn and John, Tokyo Police Club, Plain White T's, Andrew Bird, Jason Rouse, Shiny Toy Guns, Silversun Pickups and amazingly enough, much, much more.

T On The Fringe (TOTF)
Edinburgh, Scotland - August 21 - 24
The "T on the Fringe" Festival, held from August 21-24, in Edinburgh, Scotland at Meadowbank Stadium, featured more than 40 artists from the mainstream music scene to the indie "underground" highlighting genres like rock, pop hiphop, jazz and R&B.

Festival goers were treated to a four-day festival and rocked out to an amazing line up of "mainstream" alternative rock icons and indie groups including the Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, Interpol, Silverchair, James, Kayne West, Dinosaur Jr., Happy Mondays and many more. Budrising Festival - Dublin, Ireland - August 22

On Wednesday, August 22, rock fans in Dublin, Ireland converged in Marlay Park for an all-day rock and roll music festival featuring The Fratellis, Silversun Pickups, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Kaiser Chefs, Ash and five other artists.
