Metric is a Canadian-based new wave/indie rock band originally formed in New York City in 1998. In recent years, they have gained a loyal following and performed at many summer music festivals worldwide.Metric's first LP, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, wasn't released until 2003, but earned the band a Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album. They just released their fourth studio album, Fantasies, last week.

The album is truly amazing. Whatever they did in a past (what? 10?) years, well, it seems, like they can't go wrong musically AND lyrically (if you share the perception ;) ). Appreciation and respect.
i really dig metric and i was wondering if anyone could recommend some other band like them or generally just some other good indie band and albums i should pickup.
thanks!
I really enjoy metric. She's got a great voice. All of their albums are solid.
I would suggest checking out Broken Social Scene, Feist, and Stars for stuff comparable to Metric.
And some other indie stuff I've been into lately: The Uglysuit, The Dodos, Clinic, Deerhunter, Dr. Dog, The Kills, Menomena, The Ruby Suns.
Let me know what you think.
Emily Haines did some solo work as Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton. It is phenomenal and you would certainly enjoy it if you like Metric.
